INTRODUCTION:

MOONGLOW is a Talaria 40 with many custom features and has Majestic Blue Awlgrip, new twin Yanmar 440-hp engines, and has been continually maintained and updated by The Hinckley Company.  Please view the full specs and photos for this custom detailed boat.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS INTRODUCTION:

MOONGLOW is a Talaria 40 that has been excellently detailed with entertaining and comfort in mind.  She sleeps two comfortably below and two or three in the pilothouse:

  • Main cabin has a V-berth area, head with separate shower, and a full galley. 
  • The pilothouse has aft port and starboard lounge seating in the pilothouse, with port and starboard pedestal tables that each can drop down to form an extra berth and has a custom filler to join the tables to form one large thwartship berth. 
  • In the cockpit is additional port and starboard aft-facing seating, a transom bench seat, as well as a custom outboard seating and a cockpit table.
  • A 3-bow cockpit bimini is full-length and provides shade and protection from the elements.
  • Reverse-cycle heat/air conditioning has outlets in pilothouse, main cabin and head

Hinckley DualGuard composite construction of the hull is Kevlar E-glass hybrid and balsa core, SCRIMPed with vinylester resin.  Deck and cockpit are E-glass and balsa core, molded with polyester resin.  The deck and cockpit sole have a molded-in nonskid pattern.  Forespar Marelon seacocks.

  • Flush anchor locker in foredeck has a pneumatic strut that holds open the anchor locker hatch.
  • Foredeck anchor locker accommodates the Hinckley folding stowaway stainless steel anchor roller system.
  • Starboard mid-deck molded-in locker for additional storage.

Aft, the heavy-duty fiberglass swim platform has teak insert treads, stainless steel bracket and half round, and a stainless steel telescoping 3-step folding swim ladder.

Aft facing seating is built in to the port and starboard engine boxes that are topped with varnished teak and separate the cockpit from the pilothouse.  These cushioned bottom and back seats have cushions finished in matching Sunbrella SB6204-07 Phosphorous fabric and have Ivory-color weather covers.  There are storage areas in each seat back, accessed through inboard facing teak louvered doors. 

  • Custom seat filler with matching cushion between the port and starboard engine seats creates a custom aft-facing bench settee.
  • The engine boxes are hinged and have electric lift systems to give easy access to the engines.

 

Forward-facing transom bench seat has matching cushions and Ivory color weather covers.

  • A custom low cockpit table with four legs can be used between the transom bench seat and the aft-facing engine box seats.  This table is adapted from the pilothouse seating modified center filler board. Table stows under port side combing.

 

More cockpit highlights include:

  • Teak side deck boarding step
  • Teak inboard cockpit boarding step platform with fittings both port and starboard.
  • Poly-Planar stereo speaker are mounted under side deck port and starboard coaming - matches gelcoat color.

Aft, the hinged transom door in molded frame is to starboard and opens outboard offering access to the cockpit or to the heavy-duty fiberglass swim platform.

 

PILOTHOUSE:

The pilothouse is finished with:

  • Varnished teak upper pilothouse sides
  • Varnished teak valance
  • Varnished teak dash
  • Teak pilothouse sole

 

The pilothouse has a total of five (5) glass pilothouse windows:  The sliding side windows are gray tinted and the three (3) fixed forward windows have heavy duty, self-parking, intermittent windshield wipers with fresh water washers. .  

  • Ivory-color interior window sun covers for all five pilothouse windows
  • Insulated white overhead has two (2) forward acrylic opening hatches with screen.
  • Additional overhead illumination is by low-voltage halogen lights with a dimmer switch
  • Custom red and white nav area lights are recessed in the upper port side valence with dimmer.
  • (2) Poly-Planar stereo speakers are mounted in the settee base port and starboard - matches gelcoat color.
  • Varnished teak locking companionway door forward 
  • A varnished teak handrail is on the aft end of the pilothouse roof edge. 
  • Marine air heat/AC control  

 

Ivory drop curtains with windows provide a fully enclosed pilothouse.

  • Custom bug screen center section of drop curtain.

FORWARD:

Pilothouse forward has Pompanette helm and passenger seats finished in Ecru Duratouch Leather.  The  pedestal bases are powder coated.  The port seat has both height, and fore and aft adjustment, and footrest. The starboard helm seat has fore and aft adjustment. Both pedestals pivot to face aft settees.  Stainless steel footrest at the helm is on the forward bulkhead and footrest for port seat is integral.

The forward port passenger area has a varnished teak shelf with fiddle rail outboard the seat that has:

Helm Station (Starboard)

Helm Station has a varnished teak instrument pod and continuing shelf outboard and aft.

Aft Pilothouse:

Pilothouse aft has additional seating with two (2) curved settees, that face inboard and forward and have back and bottom cushions covered in Spinneybeck Acqua 0607 Lake Combo leather with Ivory-color  weather covers.  A varnished teak shelf is aft both port and starboard.  There is locker stowage beneath the port and starboard settees. 

  • Port side is a varnished pedestal teak table with a padded cover that can drop down to form an extra berth. The table is mounted on a custom Stidd powder coated pedestal.
  • Starboard side is a varnished custom teak table with a padded cover that can drop down to form an extra berth.  The table is mounted on a custom Stidd powder coated pedestal
  • Custom filler (includes separate custom cockpit table - see cockpit section) pieces join the tables and make a large double berth with matching cushions that can stow easily when not in use.  The filler pieces have a custom storage bag that store in the cockpit area.  (One filler piece is customized for use as the cockpit table).

 

Pilothouse amenities include:

  • Additional pilothouse stowage is accessed through the centerline hatch.

 

MAIN CABIN INTERIOR: 

Entry to the main cabin is through the on-center varnished teak locking companionway door that has a louvered upper-half with removable folding varnished teak hatch top.

  • There is a teak threshold and teak companionway steps down into the main cabin.  The lower step is top-opening for stowage with a fire extinguisher mounted inside and the top-opening second step houses the master disconnect switches to the electrical systems.  

 

OVERVIEW:

The interior is finished in a satin-varnished cherry wood with soft, insulated white overhead with cherry trim. The cabin sole is varnished teak and tulipwood and has a custom cabin sole cover.  All cabin locker doors are louvered with radius corners on the frames. 

Amenities include: 

  • (3) Opening overhead hatches include a built-in Ocean Air Shade/Screen in large forward V-berth hatch.
  • (4) Opening ports below (including head and galley) and removable screens
  • Interior overhead lights and step lights
  • Dimmers on all interior lighting except shower
  • Frigast stainless steel 12-volt lamps and recessed halogen lights in the overhead provide plenty of interior lighting

GALLEY (Starboard)

Handy to the cockpit is the galley with gloss varnished cherry woodwork with a Sahara Corian countertop and cherry fiddles.                                                  

  • Polished deep stainless steel sink with Grohe pull-out faucet, hot and cold pressure water, with countertop matching Corian cover. 
  • Electric cooktop is outboard
  • Microwave/convection oven
  • 12-volt DC refrigeration/freezer has removable shelves with ice tray unit inboard.
  • Louvered door cabinetry

 

Next to the sink is a countertop accessed waste bin. 

  • Next aft is the stove
  • Two additional storage lockers with louvered cherry doors and a small fiddled shelf are over and outboard the stove.
  • The refrigeration is top-accessed through the countertop aft. 
  • Microwave/convection oven - under countertop below electric cooktop - behind louvered teak door

There is stowage in the locker, outboard and under the sink and three drawers under the countertop just forward of the sink.  A 12-volt light is mounted under the locker over the refrigeration and two halogen spotlights are over the galley area.  The Generator control panel, the Inverter control panel and water gauge are also mounted in the aft bulkhead above the counter.

 

Galley amenities include:

  • 110-volt GFI dual outlet, mounted on aft bulkhead

A forward pantry/locker with varnished stained cherry louvered door and interior shelves separates the galley from the V-berth area.

 

HEAD (Port):

Across from the galley and aft of the V-berth locker to port is a private head with a solid cherry door. The head countertop is varnished cherry wood. Easy to clean, the head has molded fiberglass walls and a fiberglass sole that has molded in nonskid and a drain.

  • Countertop has a polished stainless steel sink with a fixed Grohe pullout spray faucet.
  • Four (4) level Tankwatch holding tank monitor panel
  • Removable Hella fan
  • Hot and cold pressure water.
  • Separate shower area with clear Plexi-glass folding doors has a custom handheld shower fixture mounted on a “hands-free” mounting bracket. There is a teak seat and a storage locker outboard in the shower stall with a varnished louvered cherry door.  There is a separate switched dome light.  This shower area also has a custom teak shower threshold and a second head drain.
  • Opening hatch overhead in shower with screen
  • Sealand Vacu-flush marine head is plumbed directly to the holding tank.
  • Full-length Hinckley mirror with laminated wood frame is mounted on back of head door.
  • Storage is provided in a lined locker above and outboard the countertop with sliding louvered cherry doors
