The evergreen Reichel/Pugh 45 is a very good all round option for inshore, coastal and offshore racing. PTERODACTYL has had numerous updates in recent times and is still very competitive, having recently won the prestigious Vineyard race in the USA overall.
Construction
Last IRC cert was 1.315 in 2019.
Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:
- Hull – carbon epoxy over foam.
- Deck — carbon, epoxy over Nomex — foam non-skid deck.
- Bow section (2020); reshaped bow.
- Prod (2021); replaced prod with low drag section, increased length.
Keel & Rudder:
- Keel and rudder (2019); new engineered fin and deeper low drag bulb, moved keel forward, rebuilt the keel box and some longitudinal added an additional frame, new rudder, reduced weight.
