Jeanneau 57 Review
By Talk of the Dock
The Jeanneau Yachts 57 is one big, beautiful boat. I had the pleasure of stepping aboard the Jeanneau 57 at the Oakland boat show this year and I can say there’s a lot to like about this boat that picks up where the very popular Jeanneau 54 deck saloon version left off.
The Jeanneau 57 looks sleek and slippery but it definitely gives off a tough vibe too. Unlike many Jeanneaus that featured wood below the cabin sole, the 57 has a fiberglass structural grid tabbed to the hull and a reinforcing aluminum grid below the salon sole for additional strength and stiffness. A full length liner is then placed in the hull and is topped by a balsa cored deck. Below the waterline is a cast iron keel with a bulb that is available with a draft of 8’ 2” or a shoal version of 6’ 10”. She displaces 60,000 pounds and sports a beam over 16 feet so nothing about this boat is small.
