Presenting the HH66 Super Cat. Suddenly Every Leading Fast Cat is a Follower

Faster, stronger, smarter, and more lavishly appointed than anything that’s come before. The HH66 Super Cat is the new standard for luxury cruising and performance.

We started by asking what the ultimate sailing machine should be, and we listened carefully to your desires.

The result is a cruising cat, simply put that will outperform anything of equivalent size and class on the planet. Its generous interior spaces and clever use of ultra-modern materials achieves a level of luxury not found in this genre of catamaran. Every line, every curve has been carefully considered and meticulously reworked until we achieved the ideal alchemy of beauty, performance and luxury.

Designed by Morrelli and Melvin Built by Hudson Yacht & Marine

Great Design Drives Everything We Do – Especially What We Don’t

Selecting Morrelli & Melvin to be our naval architects was an easy decision. After all, who’s better qualified than the designers of the America’s Cup 72 for 2013 America’s Cup contenders Emirates Team New Zealand, Oracle/BMW’s monster trimaran and 2010 America’s Cup winner and the 1988 America’s Cup winner Stars and Stripes catamaran.

With world-class cruising cats successfully lapping the globe, scores of racing victories and an immense knowledge of cutting edge catamaran technology, sea keeping, high performance and safety, Morrell & Melvin were the obvious choice.

Morrell & Melvin design engineers are frequently deployed on site to help manage the transfer of design and engineering information to the construction teams. This consistent onsite collaboration resolves the myriad of small decisions quickly and efficiently. Keeping MM on the shop floor adds an extra level of quality control as well as exploiting the best ideas that always pop up during the build process. All MM team members get their hands dirty!

Pete Melvin and MM design engineers spent two years in New Zealand for the build up to the 2013 America’s Cup challenge. Gino Morrelli and MM team members have been on site in China and South Africa overseeing new production and custom builds for many years.

MM will have nearly continuous presence during the construction of the HH66 tooling, first builds and sea trials. Gino is frequently onsite, if you want to tag along on a visit, drop us a line and see for yourself.

We Only Build Our Boats One Way, the Right Way

Every square inch is meticulously constructed to high standards. Fit and finish is scrutinized to ensure quality prevails from stem to stern.

  • Hull, Deck & Structures -100% Carbon fiber composite sandwich construction using post cured infused epoxy resins. Highly toughened foam cores (Corecell) used throughout the boat give the lightest and toughest construction, as well as adding sound and heat insulation.
  • Daggerboards – Latest generation curved C daggerboards optimized from extensive America’s Cup test data. Constructed from high temperature cured pre-preg carbon fiber.
  • Rudders – High aspect spade rudder incorporating T foils for heavily improved stability and on-board comfort. Constructed from pre-preg carbon fiber composite.
  • Rig & Spars from Future Fibres – Carbon fiber fractional mast, Vee boom and longeron. Pre-preg carbon fiber autoclave baked. The rig is not a “cheap alloy substitute”. It has been carefully considered and designed for all its operations. The engineering involved means that it is both stronger and lighter than other equivalent “cheaper” carbon rigs on the market.
  • Rigging from Future Fibres – Carbon fiber and aramid using continuous fiber construction technology, 30% of the weight of stainless steel rod rigging. This rigging technique is extensively tested by Germanischer Lloyd and exceeds all their impact and safety standards.

You Can’t Lose When Your Boat’s Rigged to Win

Our rig makers, Future Fibres, are arguably the best in Europe. With outstanding design and construction services, they ensure the masts we provide are the strongest and lightest solutions possible. Elegance and performance go hand in hand with our stunning “Vee Boom”. Its stunning good looks are equally matched by its ability to assist reefing and sail stacking.

Our sail makers utilize CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics) to ensure the best possible shapes are being hoisted up the mast. HH66 sails are constructed to work with the curve of the mast. We ensure strength by using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) which guarantees loads are perfectly understood and accommodated. Constructed from the strongest fibers available, including Kevlar, Carbon and Dyneema, our sails incorporate the latest technology to deliver the best performance and exceptional longevity.

Of course sail package options are available from the world’s leading sail makers. We have options ready to go from North Sails, Quantum Sails and others.
