2012 Jeanneau 53
|Type||Sloop, Deck Saloon|
|Location||Maine, United States|
See the video link at the bottom of the listing.
An offshore capable (CE Category A) little sister to the Jeanneau 57 and 58 Lori B V will be of interest to sailors with a horizon in their plans. Equipped with air conditioning, bow and STERN Thrusters, roller furling Mainsail, Electric Winches, and all lines lead aft to the cockpit Lori B V is easily short handed.
This clean example of the popular Jeanneau Yacht line is available at a price similar to a new 44. Take advantage of the longer waterline length, interior room, and the powerful performance of this well rated model.
Lori B V has the owners stateroom aft. This is particularly important for living aboard AND sailing on multiple days offshore as the owner occupies the same cabin all the time (vs. abandoning the vee-berth for a settee midships or aft cabin). Guests, kids, or grandkids have their choice of private forward cabins each with their own head and generous storage.
Lightly used with daysailing in seasonal Maine and one foray south to the Caribbean the seller is now primarily using a powerboat for his cruising duties. This is a good opportunity to get a recent vintage 53 you can make your own.
With real world storage for items like folding bikes, scuba gear, hammocks, and the like Lori B V is ready to seize the day. This boat truly offers a world class experience for long term cruising.
Lori B V has the teak interior for those desiring a traditional appearance. Please see the video link in this listing for a complete description.

There are a few prerequisites for extended cruising. Lori B V checks many of them off the list. On a more luxurious side you have three separate cabins, a big lounge, fridge and freezer, AC, Generator, separate shower stall, three heads, lots of storage, water and fuel capacity, and a large battery bank. The cockpit has a full enclosure, comfortable cushions, places for multiple people to recline or lie down. The walk through transom provides easy access from shore or a dinghy with bags of groceries in hand.
For short handed sailing you have all the lines lead aft to the cockpit, electric winches, roller furling main and genoa, electric windlass with cockpit controls and a chain counter. Dock or anchor with extreme ease with the Bow AND Stern Thrusters. The seller reports the boat docks easier than his powerboat with a Pod drive. You can slip Lori B V sideways into a small spot.
As far as 50 something length boat vs a 40 something length boat the feel is different. It's more like riding on rails. And, since the waterline is longer you'll see sailing speeds more than any displacement trawler.You can now shave hours or even days off passages if your used to smaller cruising sailboats.
Lori B V is essentially an "untouched original".
