KIALOA V has a Welded aluminium hull painted by Pendennis in 2005.

Interior hull above water line is insulated with 50mm of foil backed rockwool for thermal and sound deadening.

Mechanical

ENGINE: Main engine is a John Deere 6076AFM, rated at 300hp. Engine was new in 1999.

The engine has Twin disc transmission and Walter V-drive which was refurbished in 2005. There is also an AquaDrive system, designed to reduce loads on the transmission and make a smoother ride, and prevent problems associated with engines and their tendencies to become out of alignment. There is also a Tides Marine Lip seal for the prop shaft.

PROPELLOR: KIALOA has a Three blade MAXPROP

GENERATORS: There are two Generators: Fisher Panda10 of 10 kW, which was new in 2001. A synchronizing system allows one to use either one or two generators, depending on loads.

WATER MAKER: Village Marine water maker system (new 1999)

Rig

RIG: The mast consists or a single extrusion, 110 ft or 34meter ultra narrow profile five spreader Spar, built by Speedwave. The mast is stepped below on a keel support structure above the keel sump.

SAIL TRACK: There is a Frederickson 300 series car system for the fully battened mainsail. Additionally a Rondal MTL-45 mast track with luff groove allows the sail to easily move aloft and to drop without horrendous effort.

STANDING RIGGING: NAVTEC Cobalt Rod Rigging

CONTROLS and HYDRAULICS: NAVTEC Titanium Vang and NAVTEC Titanium Backstay Hydraulic Cylinder. Multi function system for other hydraulics includes a NAVTEC Cylinder for the inner forestay, baby stay, outhaul, runner and the deflector. Refit Details

KIALOA V was refitted in 1999 by Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, UK. At that time, she was stripped to the bare hull and frames. Racing hardware was kept to preserve her ability to compete, but her interior was fitted out for cruising. The coach house was installed for a little protection and to keep dry. Many items at that time were replaced such as wiring, plumbing interior equipment etc.

In fitting with the standards of the time, deck gear was taken back to the LEWMAR Agents in the UK to be rebuilt. Fuel capacity increased from 600L to 1750 ltrs. An underwater Anchor system was built.

An interior was built fresh.

She had a New power train consisting of a John Deere engine 5056 diesel with more horsepower. A MAXPROP was fitted to the boat.

In the summer 2001 she had another Refit at Astilleros de Mallorca, Palma.
