Bluenose Yacht Sales TEAM
I am Managing Partner of Bluenose Yacht Sales (BYS) team. If you read the “about us” page you’ll understand that sailing, yachting and boat design is part of my family history. I truly love the industry, and decided to use my ten-plus years in yacht sales, marketing, and design to help people realize and fulfill their passion for sailing or power yachting. We have grown Bluenose Yacht Sales as a leader in new yacht sales, and have grown BYS into one of the largest broker/dealer for Jeanneau Yachts over the past five years in New England. I have a long history with fine yachts including creating market awareness for Morris Yachts and doubling sales in less than two years. We use that knowledge to market our brokerage as well as new boats. I have a Design Engineering Degree combined with Management Engineering Education, and I have an extensive understanding of traditional and modern yacht construction methods. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know our clients and matching them with the ideal boat. I am really passionate about yacht design, design engineering, marketing, Sales, cruising and racing, triathlons, ice-climbing, skiing…. oh yeah, and having fun.
After years of schoonering around the world I have been a service manager for several companies here in New England. It has been said that I have commissioned and launched more Beneteau and Jeanneau new boats than anyone else in New England, but suffices to say I have probably commissioned more in the past ten years than anyone else. When not managing my service team I am preparing for boat shows and participate in a sales capacity for Bluenose Yacht Sales. Glenn and I have worked on and off together for the past ten years and our values for excellence and professionalism to every customer are strongly shared.
I grew up boating on the coast of Maine where I spent my time prior to graduating from college as a sailing instructor at a local yacht club. I was an avid sailboat racer, and I also participated in several sailing regattas up and down the east coast. Upon graduation I moved to Annapolis Maryland where I began my career as a yacht broker specializing in blue water power and sailing vessels. After 8 years as a broker in Annapolis, I decided to move back to my native state of Maine to take the position of brokerage manager and sales partner with Bluenose Yacht Sales in their South Portland, ME office.
Over 10 years ago I literally started at the bottom… painting bottoms that is. At that time I was unaware that this was not just a job, but a true vocation that would lead me to a service management role in just a few short years. I quickly realized that my passion for boats and yachting was only eclipsed by sharing that same joy with others. I have spent countless hours ensuring my clients receive the highest standard of service; after all they have entrusted their yachts and families’ safety to me. I am proud to apply my extensive customer-service experience to my new role as Charter Manager at Bluenose Yacht Charters. I have known Glenn Walters and John O’Connor for the better part of a decade, and I’m thrilled to be working side-by-side assisting John at our new Harbor Light Marina location. My goal is to simply make people happy on the water. As part of the Bluenose team, I am certain that goal will be realized.
I have been sailing and racing boats both big and small most of my life. I have won the NBYA Bay Championship in both J24’s and as helmsman on a Swan 44. I have thousands of miles of offshore and inshore cruising and racing to include 4 Bermuda Races, a couple of Marblehead to Halifax jaunts as crew boss and primary helmsman and hundreds of one design races from New England to Florida and the West Coast. I have spent significant time sailing in the Caribbean and have a couple of wins in the Heineken Regatta in St. Maarten. I also hold a Master Mariner 50 ton Coast Guard license and am a member of the Water Front Commission in the City of Newport. After a successful career as an executive in the newspaper and marine publishing industry I have been a yacht broker for 7 years selling both sailing and power yachts. My diverse experience uniquely qualifies me to help you find your perfect boat and be there for you during and after your purchase.
I have grown up yachting since the mid 1970’s and have been sailing around New England on my family’s boat since the age of four. Spending much of my summers sailing has given me a strong boating foundation from early on. While attending The University of Rhode Island, I was on the “Big Boat Team” crew and racing on Navy 44’s. I have held a Masters 100 Ton Aux Sail License since 1993. I owned and operated a charter company in St. Thomas, USVI for four years with a Newport 41 MK2 .To date, I have logged well over 25,000 miles offshore. I have also competed in numerous Bermuda & Halifax Races, including about a dozen deliveries to and from the Caribbean. Currently, I own a 1981 C&C 40-2 that I race competitively as well as cruise extensively. Let my years of yachting experience assist in finding the perfect boat for you. Sailing on a variety of large vessels and working with many different boat owners will help me focus on your personal needs as a yacht owner. I joined the Bluenose Yacht Sales team from my own Aircraft Brokerage, Marks Aviation Inc. I continue to hold my pilot’s license which in turn helps me service my clients all over the region. My other passions include water & snow skiing, SCUBA, flying airplanes & most importantly, enjoying life.
I’ve been obsessed with sailboats since I sailed a sunfish on a lake at age 8. I bought my first sailboat a 16′ Daysailor at age 12, and sold it to move up to an ODay 22 at 14. I lived aboard my MacWester 27 and Dufoir 35, And now live on land, but race and cruise my Kirie 37 throughout New England. I grew up racing 420s in Marblehead, MA, and continue to drive, navigate, and trim on everything from viper 640s to an 80′ Maxi. I have raced throughout the US and Caribbean as navigator, helmsman, and trimmer for Newport-Bermuda, Chicago-Mac, and hundreds of coastal distance races. I deliver racing boats, cruisers, and powerboats year round, both locally and offshore with my Yachtmaster Offshore 200 ton and USCG 100 ton Master license. I have taught live aboard cruising classes for over a decade. Let me use my experience to find the boat that best meets your sailing needs and goals.
I fell in love with the sport as a boy sailing Long Island Sound on my family’s Snipe. At summer camp in Rhode Island, when other kids were shooting, swimming and water skiing, I was hanging out at the boat shed, offering to help and hoping for more time on the water.
My current passions include team racing and one design fleet racing in my Sonar. As president of the Sonar class, I am able to reach out to others around the world. I love how people of different cultures can connect through our shared passion for sailing.
Working with Glenn on marketing for the past five years allowed me to see first hand the creativity, talent and experience of the Bluenose Yacht Sales team.
Owning the right boat is critical to enjoying the sport. As a BYS sales partner, I can help make that happen… I couldn’t be happier about it.
I have been exploring the waters of New England since I was about three feet tall. Around 25 years ago, I was first introduced to sailing and it has since become the ruling passion of my life. Throughout my former career in advertising and marketing, I was fortunate to have close relationships with many New England boat builders. In creating awareness of their boats, I got an education in boatbuilding methods and what it takes to manufacture a truly world-class vessel. Today, I sail a C&C 30 with my children, and look forward to the day when I’ll just have to get something bigger.
